Breeding african grey parrot

Breeding african grey parrot have a higher calcium requirement than most parrots. The soft food is and continues to be sprinkle with calcium and if the birds eat seeds also a vitamin complex when pellets form the basis of the dry diet additional vitamin supplementation is not use. The concept of adding vitamins or calcium to the water was discard early in my avicultural career. The birds never imbibe enough water. Also the vitamins act as an enrichment medium for bacteria. Besides light chlorine in the water and the reaction with the stainless steel bowl quickly destroy the value of the vitamins.african_grey_tony

Grey Parrots

Grey are not difficult to breed provide 3 conditions are met: they feel secure and can enjoy privacy, they receive a good diet and they are offer the proper nesting box. Meeting one and not the other conditions can thwart breeding. I visit a breeder about a year ago who was terribly frustrate. The birds were in spacious, private aviaries, were very steady on the perch and receive a good diet. On walking around it was very clear what was the inhibiting factor: their nests is 3 ft (90 cm) cubes with a very large entrance. Grey parrot

African Greys, as I have state is shy birds. Early in my avicultural career. I keep them with other birds in a series of indoor bird rooms. Today descendants of those original birds are keep outdoors in a building that only houses. Grey Parrots and which is surround by plants which reduce some of the brightness and gives them a high sense of security.

Diet for breeding African Greys

I use to breed a lot of African Grey parrots and have just been aske what to feed to get the best results. I used to feed a good quality parrot diet with over 30 ingredients but low in sunflowers and add a pich of vitamin powder to this each day.  Most important is not to over feed as they will look fine and go through all breeding signs but eggs maybe infertile. They should run out of seed half way through the afternoon.

I fed on average half a mug of seed per pair of birds a day which is not much. Also fed a small amout of natures harvest soak mixture a teas spoon per bird as Greys are very bad at eating fruit but it shold always be offer. Also one palm nut per birds per day.  As for calcium I gave 3 drops of liquid calcium in the water once a week and twice a week when breeding.

African grey breeding

African grey bond pair with the DNA and also I saw them mating I think more than 5 times so it’s been 25 days that still I didn’t see them going to breeding box. So I am confuse what to do. Will they lay eggs or no. When are they gonna enter breeding box . Even they breed before also with the old seller so I am just worrie what to do. Even the breeding box size is also perfect for the birds but still I am confuse. Please help

Breeding

Breeding does not have to result in eggs. Greys are not that easy to breed, and it can take some time for them to decide to explore the box. Some pairs can take years to reproduce, and some pairs never reproduce. All you can do is provide everything they need, give them plenty of privacy, and hope they breed for you. I am a bit concern that the seller claim they had bred before. It’s rare for anyone to sell a pair that produces chicks. Usually if someone sells a pair, it’s because they don’t produce chicks – maybe they don’t lay eggs, or sit on the eggs, or have healthy chicks. There is no way to know for sure, but if another 6 months goes by and they still have no interest in the box, I would consider the possibility.

Professional breeding center of African Grey parrots

The African grey breeding center was the first project we start when we founded the company and is one of the largest breeding centers for in the European Union. Subsequently, we have implement new infrastructures in which we breed diverse species of birds base on the research and product development projects that are ongoing at any given time.
